Autumn Applications
For grass weed control in oilseed rape, operators face the extra problem of crop shading emerging target seedlings – the best rates of control are achieved by early applications at the one to two leaf stage. Finer droplets are required to wet shiny grass leaves and generate sideways movement to get under leaves.
Water volume
100-200 l/ha
Nozzle choice
For pre and post emergence applications and early volunteer control the DEFY nozzle alternating forward and back is recommended. When conditions are marginal, an AMISTAR nozzle is the best option.
Application speed
12 km/h is optimum
Other comments
Alternating the angled DEFY nozzles down the boom reduces drift and increases coverage, especially in cloddy seed beds. Keep pressure low to reduce drift.
Spring Applications
Water volume
100 l/ha
Nozzle choice
DEFY
Application speed
12 km/h
Other comments
When targetting petals and pods, the DEFY nozzle alternating forward and backward is recommended. For penetration further into the crop or desiccation, an AMISTAR nozzle is better suited to target all parts of the canopy.
